MRT TRAINS UNDER TESTING BEYOND SEMANTAN STATION

KUALA LUMPUR, 5 May – Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd – operator of the MRT Sungai Buloh – Kajang – has commenced its trial operation period for Phase 2 of the alignment between Sungai Buloh and Kajang, which is scheduled to be opened by end of July.

The trial operations, which started since May 1, will have the trains going beyond Semantan to selected stations under Phase 2.

“Hence, we need to remind all our customers to be alert to our announcements and exit when the train reaches Semantan station. The route map will have green lights flashed at various stations under Phase 2. But, they are merely for this test programme. We apologise for any confusion caused,” says Rapid Rail Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Ir. Zohari Sulaiman in a statement today.

He said the tests will commence in five stages until end of July.

“We are current on Stage 1 where the trains will proceed until Maluri Station before turning back to Sungai Buloh until May 15. So, passengers will need to alight the test trains at Semantan Station and allow the train to proceed with its test programme until Maluri.

“Stage 2 will be from 16 to 31 May and will have the trains proceeding up to Taman Mutiara. Similarly, passengers will need to alight the trains at Semantan Station as it is the last stop for Phase 1. It will then be followed by remaining three stages. These tests are part of a comprehensive preparatory exercise to ensure smooth operations of the services and for the safety and convenience of the passengers,” added Ir. Zohari.

Phase 1 of the MRT Sungai Buloh – Kajang Line was opened in December last year; plying between Sungai Buloh and Semantan stations.
