GLENMARIE LRT STATION IS NOW CGC-GLENMARIE STATION

KUALA LUMPUR, 30 April – After Bangsar, Bukit Bintang, and Universiti, Glenmarie became the fourth Rapid KL station to be adopted under the lucrative Station Naming Rights programme, which provides full leverage for the appointed partner in projecting its brand and image within the facility.

While Bangsar is now Bank Rakyat-Bangsar LRT Station, Bukit Bintang is Air Asia-Bukit Bintang Monorail Station; and Universiti is KL Gateway-Universiti LRT station, Glenmarie will be rebranded as CGC-Glenmarie LRT station after Prasarana Integrated Development Sdn Bhd (PRIDE) accorded the naming rights privileges to Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC).

A subsidiary of Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana), PRIDE promotes and manages the programme, which is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia and allows corporations or brands the opportunity to bid for the right to transform a station to reflect the brand’s corporate identity and name the station after themselves.

A limited company incorporated under the Companies Act 1965 on July 5, 1972, CGC is established to play a developmental role in supporting the country’s economic development agenda by assisting marginal but potentially viable small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to obtain financing from the financial institutions.

With its main office located at Kelana Jaya Business Centre, the ‘ownership’ of the station is commercially ideal as the centre is directly connected to the CGC-Glenmarie LRT Station, which is a new station under the LRT Line Extension Project that was officially opened in June last year.

As the brand owner of the station, CGC does not only have the name of the station; but also the privilege of painting the full station in promoting its brand and image; utilizing fully the interior for its advertising needs.

As part of its contract with PRIDE, CGC is also offered a retail kiosk to take advantage of high ridership for the LRT Kelana Jaya Line, which runs between Gombak and Putra Heights and integrated to sister LRT Ampang/Sri Petaling Line at Masjid Jamek station and connected to the Monorail Line at KL Sentral station. In the future, it will be an integrated station for the new LRT Line 3 (LRT3), which runs between Bandar Utama to Johan Setia in Klang and scheduled to be in operations in 2020.

Congratulating CGC for the venture, PRIDE Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Mohd Zahir Zahur Hussain is firmly confident that the company will reap in massive benefits in its investment in securing wider mileage and higher businesses.

“The CGC-Glenmarie Station is strategic; given its massive park and ride facilities at the station and its future connectivity with LRT3. Upon completion of the LRT3, it will be connected to Bandar Utama MRT Station via LRT3 and this ensures a high traffic of LRT and MRT ridership,” he said.

Commenting on the collaboration between CGC and Prasarana, the President / Chief Executive Officer of CGC, Datuk Mohd Zamree Mohd Ishak said the move was in line with the company’s efforts to promote the company and SME.

“We are pleased to have secured the Naming Rights for the Glenmarie LRT Station. By collaborating with Prasarana, we will bring our brand closer to our fellow Malaysians and create greater brand awareness of CGC which is in line with our Aspiration to be The Household Name for SMEs by 2020.”

“Since 1972, CGC has been Powering Malaysian SMEs and we have issued over RM63.5 billion guarantees benefiting over 330,000 SMEs. And we are committed to continue with our mandate to serve Malaysian SMEs at all our 16 branches nationwide including our Main Branch which is located near the CGC-Glenmarie LRT Station” added Zamree.
