RAPID KL EXTENDS LRT SERVICES FOR GOMBAK STATION, SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE BETWEEN BATU CAVES AND GOMBAK STATION

KUALA LUMPUR, 30 January – Rapid KL will be extending its LRT services at Gombak station as well as providing special bus shuttle services to provide public transport convenience for commuters in conjunction of Thaipusam celebrations at Batu Caves here.

While the LRT Kelana Jaya Line services will have its Gombak station opened until 2am on Wednesday (31 January), a special shuttle bus services will also be provided by Rapid KL for travel between Batu Caves and Gombak LRT for the period.

“Other LRT and MRT and monorail stations will be closed according to the normal closure time. The move will means that commuters can enter Gombak LRT station at any time until 2am and exit at any LRT or MRT stations.

“Train frequency will be for every 30 minutes departing Gombak Station after the normal train service hours. Train services for Ampang / Sri Petaling Line and MRT Sungai Buloh – Kajang Line will also be extended to accommodate the late travels.

“The trains will wait for the last service train from Gombak at integration stations of Masjid Jamek and Pasar Seni. Services will be at an interval of every 30 minutes,” Rapid KL said in a statement today.

There will, however, NO extension for KL Monorail service and BRT – Sunway Line, the statement added.

For traveling convenience, LRT users are strongly encouraged to use MyRapid Touch ‘n Go (TnG) cards or any TnG cards. Commuters are also encouraged to park at Park n Ride facilities along the LRT and MRT alignments for travel convenience. 

The bus services between Gombak LRT station and Batu Caves, which have commenced since 6am today, operate at a frequency of 30 minutes until 1.30 am; depending on traffic conditions. They will resume from 6am tomorrow morning and end at 11pm. Fare is RM2 per trip.

Rapid KL is also providing a special shuttle service between Pasar Seni Bus Hub and Batu Caves. Offering a frequency of between 10 to 15 minutes, the services have commenced since 5am this morning, ends at midnight tomorrow. Fare is also RM3 per trip. 

Rapid KL also reminds commuters to take note of changes in its usual bus services around Batu Caves and Gombak in view of road closures imposed by the authorities. Waiting time will also be longer than usual.

Following are the affected routes: 

  • Route 173: Hub Tmn Jasa Utama – Lebuh Ampang, 
  • Route 171: Hub Wira Damai – Lebuh Ampang. 
  • Route T204: Hub Greenwood – Kg. Nahkoda. 
  • Route MPS 01: Hub Selayang Mutiara – Gombak, LRT Station.
