RAPID KAMUNTING GOES KAMPUNG BOYAN, BUKIT JANA IN TAIPING

KUALA LUMPUR-Rapid Kamunting bus services, which commenced operations in March this year, is introducing its third route, RKM 30 next month, which will be plying along Kampung Boyan to Bukit Jana via Kamunting Raya Express Bus Terminal, Taiping. 

Operated by Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd from its northern headquarters which also operates Rapid Penang, the new RKM30 route will start with two buses daily; covering a radius of 19km and a frequency of every 75 minutes for each trip.

RKM 30 is expected to be operational in mid-December; covering about 18 existing stops along its route.

Service starts at 6am with the last bus scheduled at 8.30pm. Fare is between RM1 and RM2.50; with senior citizens, students and those with physical disabilities being offered a 50 per cent discount as practised for bus services operated by Rapid Bus – a subsidiary of Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana).

“We are happy to announce that Rapid Kamunting is expanding its services by introducing RKM 30. Rapid Bus and our partners decided to expand the coverage of Rapid Kamunting to provide smoother mobility and further enhance connectivity for the people in Taiping and Kamunting. The addition of RKM 30 adds to the existing Route RKM 10 and RKM 20, which currently are plying along Taiping and Jejak Warisan Loop respectively.

“This new route will connect key residential areas such as Taman Kamunting Mutiara and Kampung Boyan to attraction points such as AEON Hypermarket and Tesco. This will help the residents living within the areas with better public transport convenience and a service value for money,” said Major Mohd Shukri Bin Abdul Rahman (R), who is the Chief Operating Officer Rapid Penang.

Established through a close collaboration between Prasarana, Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) and Taiping Municipal Council (MPT), Rapid Kamunting currently has an average daily ridership of 20,500 people.
