KUALA LUMPUR, 17 October – Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) was honoured with the Gold Medal Asia Pacific Quality Organisation (APQO) Class Awards, which was introduced this year by AQPR to recognise companies that promote innovation initiatives in the region.

Apart from Prasarana, which is Malaysia’s prime mover in the transformation of the country’s public transport services, eight other establishments were also presented with various awards including three Malaysian entities – Kulim Municipal Council; Finisar Malaysia Sdn Bhd dan Johor Port Berhad.

Held at The Stones Hotel, Legian at Bali, Indonesia in conjunction with the 25th APQO International Conference on Tuesday (15 October), five other recipients were Shanghai Microport Medical Group, China; WASIT Gas Plant, Saudi Aramco, Arab Saudi; Global Indian International School, Singapura, Atlas and Axillia Co. Ltd., and Maliban Biscuit Manufacturers from Sri Lanka.

“We are pleased to announce that nine role model organisations from five countries are being recognized for adopting a holistic approach in steering the organization and making significant progress towards achieving key milestones on their innovation journey. These organisations have demonstrated performance levels expected of the APRO Innovation Class Awards,” said APQO President, Harnek Singh who is also Chairman of Global Performance Excellence Award Governing Council.

Prasarana was represented by Rapid Rail, Chief Executive Officer, Encik Abdul Hadi Amran, who said the award was proof of Prasarana’s solid dedication and firm commitment in promoting the culture of innovation amongst its 10,000-strong staff.

“This award is testament of hard work and commitment by the management of the Group, which has worked closely with the staff and supported the vision of making innovation as our work culture,” said Hadi.

Both entries – The Roll ‘N’ Stock and D-SIM teams, which presented innovation initiatives for LRT trains’ Auxiliary Power Unit and a dynamic LRT train simulator respectively, walked away with 3-star Gold Medal awards, which was the highest honour presented at the conference.

It has been a glorious three months for Prasarana after it was recently honoured as amongst Asia’s Industrial Champions at the ACES Award on September 20 in Bangkok, Thailand. Prior that, on August 15, Prasarana was honoured as among the Top 100 Asia’s Best Employer Brands 2019 in Singapore, which was hosted by the World HRD Congress and Stars of The Industry Group, in strategic partnership with CHRO-Asia and World Federation of Human Resources Professionals.
