FULL CASHLESS FOR MRT FEEDER BUS FOR CONVENIENCE AND SMOOTHER TRAVEL

KUALA LUMPUR, 29 January – Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd will implement fully cashless payment system on all its MRT Feeder buses from this Friday (1 February 2019); enhancing passengers’ convenience and smoother travel when boarding the buses.

Nevertheless, a one-month grace period is being granted to the current concession card holders – students, senior citizens and disabled (OKU) customers.

“The grace period is to allow them to apply for their concession card through www.myrapid.com.my or at Pasar Seni Concession Counter and Pasar Seni Bus Hub. This group of customers are still permitted to pay by cash up until 28 February 2019,” Rapid Bus said in a statement issued here today.

The cashless payment system will cover all 57 feeder bus routes from Sungai Buloh to Kajang MRT depot.

With the daily ridership of 60,000 passengers, Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd – a subsidiary of Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) – anticipates 51 percent of the customers will convert to the cashless system smoothly.

This projection is based on the current cashless penetration on MRT Feeder Bus with the average of 49 percent of customers who are already opting for cashless as their payment method. The move is also in support of efforts to accelerate the country’s migration to cashless society, which has become a part of the Government’s aspiration to increase the efficiency of the nation’s payment systems.

“Prasarana Malaysia Berhad and Rapid Bus are always keen and will continuously be behind the idea of cashless society to support the Government’s initiative,” the statement said. “Customers are advised to purchase Touch ‘n Go card before boarding the bus to ensure the swiftness of their journey with us. MyRapid Touch ‘n Card can be purchased from any MRT, LRT, Monorail or BRT customer service office,” it added.

Customers who have already purchased My100 and My50 products can use it for the cashless payment system on the bus. The passes can be purchased from any MRT, LRT, Monorail or BRT Customer Service Office.

However, customers are to be reminded that a minimum balance of RM 3.00 is required on their card before boarding the bus. All Touch ‘n Go reload points are available for reloading of card purpose.
